The READS-TO-GO committee led a roundtable discussion: "Read Any Good Books Lately?" Each of the five committee members brought a list of four titles to recommend to the attendees. We didn't even get through the list! And, we barely had time to discuss participants favorites. As that tee-shirt saying goes, "So many books, so little time."
The complete list of recommendations is included as a PDF under Reproducibles for Libraries, which is found on the right-hand side of the blog.
The RTG committee also put together a "Bag-o-Books" raffle for the READS table. It consisted of a bag filled with gently-used books, a coffee mug and a bag of coffee.
The committee has applied for a grant to fund 10 new kits. We asked people filling out raffle tickets to note if their libraries were willing to host a kit. We got 26 tickets that indicated a library was definitely interested in hosting, 25 indicated "may be," and 13 that were not interested. (Quite a number of these said that their libraries were already hosting a kit--for future reference, a library can host more than one kit if the ILL librarian is willing to handle the extra work. My library, is currently hosting three.)
Congratulations to our winner--Mystery Woman! The drawing was held at lunch. I didn't have a pen at hand to write down the winner's name and library, so that information is now lost to me, sorry.
